I was born and raised in a small farming community in the Northern part of the state of New Jersey, which is situated within the Appalachian Mountains. But for the past 19 years I have been living and teaching in the Philippines. I enjoy studying, so therefore I try to make it a habit to learn something new daily.
I have a Masters Degree in the field of “Special Education” which I obtained in June 1997. I have taught a wide range of students from Japan, Korea, China, Twain, Vietnam, Russia, France, Saudi Arabia, Chile Etc. I have taught students as young as 4 years old up to the age of 71.
Over the course of many years as an ESL teacher I have taught wide variety of English subjects, such as phonics for young beginners, conversation & listening enhancement, basic grammar, reading comprehension, pronunciation enhancement, IELTS speaking & writing just to name a few.
For the past 14 years I’ve been teaching IELTS speaking & writing with the majority of my IELTS students having gone on to score a total band score between 7.0-8.0 on their exams.
I use a wide range of teaching materials and methods when it comes to teaching English as a second language to my students. I know from experience that learning a second language, Esp. English can be difficult, stressful, and yet fun, I know because currently I speak 6 languages.
I believe that learning English, or any language or any subject can be hard and or stressful, therefore as teachers we need to make our students feel relaxed while learning, and as teachers we need to make our classroom setting enjoyable, by doing so our students will want to learn, and will participate more in class activities.
Together we can make learning English as your second language more enjoyable, while having fun in the process, together we can conquer English.
See you soon in my classroom.
